The basic
Tambourine Drum set is two 10" tom toms, a 22" Tambourine bass drum, a 10"
Tambourine
Snare, a low boy hi-hat pedal, and an inverted bass drum pedal. The bass drum pedal
has as one of its beaters the butt end of a drum stick that has been cut off about midway
with a hole drilled in the center to accept a metal shaft. This shaft is inserted
into the bass drum pedal. The effect is like hitting the bass drum with a stick,
giving a staccato sound for better articulation.
Other fun elements; the trashed cymbals, the
upside down pot with rivets, the coke bottle, the bicycle wheel, the bicycle gear with
rivets, a cow bell, a wood block, a small chime tree and a triangle. For us,
one object of the design is to have fun, recycling by substituting old and found objects
for the more conventional ones. As you add more stuff, the Tambourine
Drum kit becomes
more sculptural in nature.
Tambourine Drums as an American Percussion product is
in its final development stages, and is so new that the cost has not yet been
