The Thumbdrum

The Thumbdrum is made of clay, glazed on the inside as well as the outside, and comes in a variety of glazed finishes or a hand painted finish.  It measures about 9" by 9" and comes with one American Percussion bamboo brush.

Some of the nice features of this drum are that it is very small, light weight and produces many sounds and pitches.  For example, insert the thumb through the hole from the back of the drum and rest the the pointer, middle and ring finger over the top of the sound portal.  Next lift one of the fingers, like you're playing a trumpet, and hit the drum head at the same time.  This will produce a  pitch change.  The Thumbdrum can be easily held while walking or dancing so if you're one that likes to do so while in a drumming group this may be the perfect drum for you.
