Avant - Percussion

The New Tympans
Avant- percussion instruments  are unique traditional  instruments prepared  with various objects for adventurous  musicians .                                         This first avant- percussion instrument is a little different type of tympan by using a conventional drum head with a fan snare. Now you can put whatever type of head on besides the calf heads I normally use. The small chain across the drum head is held on with two strong magnets. You can loosen the chain to get a more open sound. You can also remove the chain and move the magnets to different locations on the drum head to get different sounds. The bass drum tension rod is for a quick tuning or de - tuning of the drum head and the fan snare, inside the drum , acts as a snare giving a different sound according to how much you tension it. Also, you can tighten the snare up against the bottom of the head tight enough so that it becomes a mute. The legs & bellows detach for the ease of transporting. Also available with adjustable floor tom legs. The rest is up to you ! lol
