The Strumbourine
The strumbourine is a tambourine like percussion instrument that has a wood head on one side and a calfskin head on the other side. In the photo you will see one side of the calf skin head is folded upward, after the skin has dried out, it remains ridged thus giving to the performer the ability to strike it as they are playing. Once struck the whole head is then set into vibration similar to a banjo giving off a note. This is some what tunable. |
