This World Percussion instrument - The Travolette is a new type of hand drum with an unusual playing technique. The drums come in 6" and 8" diameters and comes in many different types of hardwoods.. There are grooves around the edge that is a guiro and can be played with the felt mallet that's included . The Travolettes are usually about 1.25" - 1.5" " deep with maple, birch or mahogany shells. The pro package includes; a travolette, a felt mallet, a stand and a drawstring case. No cd anymore because the video is on the website. The 4" travolette comes with a rubber mallet . The standard package includes; the travolette, felt mallet and drawstring case. You can also substitute a rubber mallet for the felt mallet. As someone who plays Hand drums I have to say this is very cool! How convenient would it be to just whip this out when you feel in the mood and tap on this awhile? I think it would be terrific! And, the sound is great really. For drummers of any kind who are always tapping their fingers and hands on whatever they can reach when their drums aren't around, this would be very appreciated and fun, believe me. And a whole group with these would be terrific! As well, it would add a crisp embellish to a song.
